After upgrading from 3.14 to 3.5 user passwords failed.
Last night I have updated our mail server from 3.14 to 3.5, all user pop account passwords failed, their outlooks were keep asking pop password, even I have reset them it would not work, so using my Acronis Server image, I have reverted back to 3.14 now we are OK.
Did I missed something?
Thank you,
Robert

What services (eg: pop/smtp/webmail) were experiencing login errors?
There is no known reason why there would be failures with the 3.5 issue (other than perhaps permission problems or a .net framework issue relating to the fact that the new releases work with version 2+ of the framework).
If the problem should persist, it may be best to raise a support ticket (under the installation category) and an engineer can diagnose the issue.

POP SMTP WEBMAIL refused login
Andrew,
Pop, smtp, and webmail so far I have tried. When you try to log on to webmail basically, unknown user or bad password, just like if you are using a wrong password.
If you can help that would be great, I would like to move on to 3.5
Thank you,
Robert

Robert, of coutse we too would like to understand why it failed. Perhaps one of our engineers can do the upgrade and we can inspect why it has failed and get it working. We should be able to diagnose the reason very quickly and you should be up and running with minimal downtime. If this is possible could you please raise a ticket with rdp details (use the installation category as that way it is free). If you do raise the ticket, please reference this e-mail thread so the engineer knows the history. thx
Regards, Andrew

I hope this is not a real issue concerning the resetting of passwords. I have over 320 e-mail accounts and I really don't feel like a full day of phone calls to notify customers all over the US how to check their e-mail. I would like to upgrade, but I don't want things broken before I can enjoy the benefits of the new version.

After upgrading to 3.5, I lost all pop3 passwords - ouch
Seems something to do with the conversion of encripted passwords in 3.14 to 3.5. Trying to figure out a solution rather than redoing the many hundreds of pop3 passwords... Also when I when from encripted to unencripted passwords, the Auth.tab file was empty. So not only are passwords useless, I lost all the entries in the auto.tab file. I have a couple of backups including the auth.sav (containing encripted passwords) so just got to find the encription key in the registry backups... Maybe I can still recover quickly...
Update: On my backup server I installed ME 3.14, copied the autobackup folder to the proper place, restored from the autobackup, unencripted the passwords. On the ME 3.5 server, I stopped all the mail enable services, copied the auth.tab file from the server running ME 3.14 to the config folder on my production server, and restarted all the mail enable services. Problem solved.
Notes: On my backup server I forgot to upgrade to 3.5. Apparently the auth.tab files are the same layout.
Comments: There appears to be a problem in the conversion from 3.14 to 3.5 if you are using encripted passwords. As my problem for the moment is resolved, I do not have the time to confirm this. Sorry...
